ABOUT

Anthony Miccoli, Ph.D.

I’m a teacher, mentor, and guide. I'm skilled  at helping to “move people along” from one stage of life to another, and help inspire and empower people, and discover their deepest (often hidden) passions.

I inspire people to stand outside of themselves -- or move beyond themselves -- and see themselves authentically.

I work particularly with power dynamics: How does power flow in (and out) of your life? Answering those questions can help us understand the deepest parts of our lives, and see how and why we are limiting ourselves.

Professionally, I am a posthumanist philosopher and Emeritus Professor of Philosophy with twenty-five years of higher education experience, eighteen years of which were spent at a teaching university, where I created and headed the philosophy program. I am the author of Posthuman Suffering and the Technological Embrace, and have been published in multiple print journals and anthologies, as well as in online collections. As an expert in the field of posthuman philosophy, I’ve been cited in dozens of books, articles, dissertations, and masters’ theses. Administratively, I created and headed the philosophy program at my former university, and was responsible for the creation, assessment, and curation of all philosophy curriculum, as well as chairing several university committees, and being elected by my peers as Faculty Trustee. I was also the recipient of my university’s “Alumni Award for Excellence” in teaching.

My philosophical interests and expertise includes posthumanism (humanity's relationship with technology), Philosophy of sex and gender, Eastern Philosophy, Philosophy of Religion, Epistemology, and Phenomenology.
